Teaching Philosophy
It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts...it is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves." - Robert Hutchins
My overriding teaching philosophy has been guided and influenced by a combination of personal, teaching, and coaching experiences throughout my life.
Physical education is an extremely beneficial class as students are taught to make important fitness and healthy food choices now and in their future. It will also develop communication and social skills that are valuable in all parts of their life.
I firmly believe that teaching is a privilege to be entrusted with the development of young children. Life is a learning experience. Therefore, never stop learning and helping others to learn and achieve their life goals, which is my ultimate ambition as a teacher.
- First, I believe that every student is unique and learns differently. Therefore, it is important to adapt teaching methods to individual learners in a classroom environment through a range of learning styles and activities.
- Second, my philosophy is that everyone in the classroom needs to contribute as a student, teacher, and thinker. Even the teacher can learn from the students. This can be accomplished through feedback, which is imperative to teaching.
- Third, my philosophy encompasses the active learning of students as they gain necessary skills to become an involved participant in learning.
- Fourth, my philosophy is to foster critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, which are critical to lifelong learning and life in general.

Therefore, the important components of my classroom management philosophy encompass the following:
- Organization to prevent wasted time.
- Clear and consistent expectations.
- Providing a safe classroom.
- Open communication for a high level of student engagement.
- Positive-environment that is work-oriented.
An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body." - General George S. Patton
