ABOUT MEExercise and recreation are as necessary as reading. I will rather say more necessary, because health is worth more than learning." - Thomas Jefferson My name is Joseph Monosmith. I grew up in the Midwest in Ankeny, Iowa, a town of about 77,000 people. I am the oldest of 8 children with 5 boys and 3 girls so I was constantly surrounded by busy activities including sports. From a young age, I loved any kind of sport, especially baseball and soccer, and physical fitness. I also love spending time with my younger siblings. Additionally, I was paralyzed after my first year of college and doctors did not know if I would be able to walk again. Thus, my love of sports, children, and physical activity led to my great desire to be a physical education teacher and coach.
I played baseball in college at Marshalltown Community College and the University of Mary, continuing with my love of sports and the game of baseball. I am currently a senior at the University of Mary, double majoring in Physical Education and Coaching and Sports Studies. |
